I LOVE The Cove! Cool atmosphere, excellent food, great local beer selection, nice outdoor seating, diverse music sets...all my favorite things in one place! I’ve tried many different menu options from the tacos to a variety of burgers and salads and ALL of them have been yummy, but the Latin Lover lamb burger is by far the best. It’s now my staple whenever I go. The quality of it varies a bit visit to visit, I think some kitchen staff may “smash” the patty, which to me is sacrilege, but even the few times it’s been over cooked, it was still tasty. Highly recommend this place, one of my very favorites in SA!read more

Great music great fun! My favorite place to go on a weekend. I can bring my daughter cause there is a playground and i can even bring my dog!They have the best lamb burgers and sweet potato fries. Its clean and comfortable. The bartenders and servers are very friendly. Its everything in one cause if you need to get your car washed and do some laundry they have that there too! There's so much to love about the Cove, especially if you have a passion for eating local, healthy food, and if you have young children. The outdoor play area keeps the kids busy while you wait for your food. Speaking of waiting, the only downside to The Cove is that there's often a long line to order and then a bit of a wait to get your food brought to your table. But the quality of food, the fact that you can see where the food is sourced from, and the fun atmosphere make it worth the wait. While you're there, step outside your comfort zone and share one of the outdoor picnic tables with another family. Strike up a conversation. You'll be glad you did!read more

Love The Cove! Go there on a nice day or evening and sit outside in their well shaded dining area. They have a very large bar with a huge selection of beer on tap. I can't remember the name of the burger I had but it was like a bean burger (refried beans cheese and chips) with the perfect amount of pepper heat. They allow you to bring your dog too!read more

I typically try to keep my consumption of alcohol and my exposure to children separate so getting used to these kinds of places takes some work on my end. Unpopular opinion, I know. I've never been to The Cove but have always heard about it from co-workers and friends. When the opportunity to visit for a co-worker's going away party presented itself I willingly jumped at the occasion. When we arrived, we immediately went to the bar outside, in the back. Hey, it was happy hour so why not partake? My friend ordered a whiskey and coke and the bartender quickly informed us that The Cove doesn't serve hard liquor. Just wine and beer. I guess I understand that considering the parent to child ratio, you don't want moms and dads getting too turnt up. Not only could we not get liquor, we couldn't get "regular" beer - just Texas beer at that particular bar. We made our way inside. I liked the inside space and saw that a band was setting up. Unfortunately, we didn't stay long enough to order food. I get the quirky appeal of the Cove considering it's a car wash, laundromat, and restaurant. Parking for us was a hassle (we parked in front of the laundromat) and the space was tiny. Maybe, I'll give it another try just for the food but we'll see!read more

This is one of my favorite spots in San Antonio. If I have people coming in from our of town, this is where I show them how cool San Antonio can be. My favorite thing to order is the fish tacos. It's a great place to eat outdoors. It's a perfect place for your kids they have a playground in the center where you can watch them. The hamburgers are good. They had lots of vegetarian / healthy choices. They have a large variety of drinks. They do not have regular Dr. Pepper, Coke, Sprite. They have their own brand of soft drinks. They're supposed to be healthier. They also have sweet potato French fries. It's very dog and kid friendly. However, the kids are far enough away that you can still enjoy a nice quiet meal.read more

I have always like The Cove. The food is consistently good regardless of what I order. They also have a great beer selection with a bunch of craft brews from Texas and nationally. It is a great place for a large group, birthday parties, and family gatherings. They have a playground for kids to play so the adults can hang out uninterrupted. The only negative I can point out us parking. Sometimes it can be tough to find a spot. Also you have to wait in line to order at the counter. Amazing food , especially the bison burger and sweet potato fries. We held a social here with a large group on a Saturday night , we were able to hold three big tables out side by the playground for 30 minutes until everybody showed up . Worked out perfectly. Really liked the fast service. The naked burger was delicious and the hummus and chips were very tasty although a little heavy on the garlic so if your not planning on kissing anyone it is a definite must. The environment was very laid back and lots of outdoor seating for families with little kids to play in the jungle gyms, even have outdoor misters. Inside was nice and cool with a live band and dance floor long style bench tables. Very different concept place that has an attached car wash and laundromat. I guess you can wash the car and drop off your laundry while you get a bite to eat with the kids and even the dog! Could use a little TLC indoors and outside for sure but a good little place to grab some good wholesome food, Gluten Free options, vegan and vegetarian patties and even bison, chicken farm to table style. Only ordered delivery so I can’t speak to the atmosphere or service. The order took a long time to be ready before delivery. That would have been fine if the food had merited the wait - I was so excited to try the interesting vegan burgers, but both the vegan and meat burgers we ordered were soggy, sloppy, and uninteresting. The sweet potato fries were equally soggy. This was actually probably the worst vegan burger I’ve had, and I have tried many. The only reason I would visit the actual location would be to enjoy their dog friendly patio.read more

The Cove is one of my all time favorite restaurants. I’m vegetarian and LOVE the Vegan Bacon Cheeseburger. Everything else is top notch! The food can’t be beaten and the place is really cool itself. There’s great beer on tap and live music. It gets 4 stars because they really can’t accommodate the demand. Friday/Saturday evening is a nightmare. You will wait an hour. We regularly pick up to go and because the to go line isn’t clearly marked other customers will go out of their way to tell you off about getting in the front of the line. Food was mediocre at best which makes the prices too high for what you get. Burgers were overcooked and dry. Fries seemed like they had been cooked in old oil but it was lunch time. Seating is old and more like it belongs in a park which I guess you could call rustic. Fine for an outdoor bar I guess. We also got to enjoy the nice smell of the sewage trap being pumped during lunch hours /s/. Maybe this place is better in the evening with live music and that justifies the higher prices, but the food does not.read more

This was a fun place to eat! There is a playground for the kids. Judging from the schedule, there is frequent live music. There is a sign that indicates pets are welcome in the outdoor area. Kind of a unique place. I tried the bison burger, and it was delicious. The fries were excellent. My wife had the "real burger" and enjoyed it as well. A very cool bar. Never knew a place like this was so near. I was impressed with the layout and the variety of tap beers (not to mention the over 200 bottle beers). I've been to this place almost 3 times in just 1 month- that proves i simply love this place & the food! They have a laundry, car wash area and the FOOD place.. its pet friendly & kid friendly ... kids have a wonderful play area with sand, slides and swings. Great place to meet up with friends to catch up while your little ones enjoy the outdoor playground. Lot's of outdoor sitting, and indoor sitting. The playground has some coverage to protect your little ones from some heat. Lot's of outdoor/indoor fans for those of us that get hot pretty easily. Great food! Love, love, love the fish tacos!!! Came here for a friends birthday and it was awesome! Atmosphere was great and good place for families. Ordered a simple burger and the meat and cheese blended together so well! It was moist, juicy and perfectly seasoned. Order sweet potatoe fries as a side and it was just as amazing as the burger. This is a great outdoor restaurant with a true Texas feel. There's a terrific central playground for the kiddies, and even a fenced in dog park for the fur babies. Only downs are the lack of parking at peak time (although they have an agreement with a building across the street), the wait for your food (but I get it’s busy and all), and the price/portion ratio (not a lot of food for a good $10). Okay so stumbled apon the cove after a hospital visit. It is seated next to a car wash but don't let that scar you away! It has a amazing outdoor seating area with a playground and outdoor heaters. There is a bar as well. Cool spot. Vegan food with goat cheese so happy for this place.

The hamburgers are varied enough from each other that each tastes like a distinctly different dish, rather than simply like the same burger with different toppings. Both the beef and the bison is fresh enough and of such high quality that it can be eaten cooked medium, or even medium rare if you prefer. Additionally, they have an extensive selection of beers on tap: local, regional, national, foreign, pilsners, ales, porters... Whatever your preference, odds are that they have something to suit your tastes. I would recommend The Cove to anyone looking for a casual dining experience without sacrificing the flavors of fine dining. As a side note, this is definitely a kid-friendly restaurant, but this enhances rather than diminishes the feel-good atmosphere, as there is a wonderful playground that is safe both for play and for the ease of supervision it allows. It is within 20 yards of the dining tables, far enough to not be a nuisance but close enough to know your children are safe with a casual glance in their direction.read more

Hard to find a better place to go when you want to get good food, have access to a crazy amount of beers, and let your kids run wild on the playground. We eat here often because they offer food options for gluten sensitivities that don't suck. Love to just go sit outside when the weather is good and enjoy the evening. NOTE: If you're going to go hang, get there early. Parking is kind of a bear and when it fills up it takes awhile to get your order in and may be hard to find a table because everyone else goes there to sit around awhile.read more

The salsa was terrible though (tasted like plain black pepper, lacked in flavor). Such an amazing place to go during the winter and the summer. They have ample shade coverage, huge fans, and misters everywhere. During the winter the space blocks the wind and they turn on the long overhead heaters during the evening. I love The Cove. It is a unique Texas combination of a laundromat, car wash, dog wash, bar and restaurant. I recommend it to visitors as the kind of place that epitomizes Texas. Old signs, hundreds of beers along the bar, long picnic tables with rolls of paper towels on them, and always great local bands. The food is unlike anything you'd expect in a place like this. They have organic, gluten free and vegan choices, as well as things like bison burgers, fish tacos (get the shrimp tacos of you cant handle spicy food), and fresh salads. They have a huge outdoor area with a playground and dog watering stations. It is not a quick in-out place, but one you'll want to hang out for a while to listen to the bands and relax in a friendly atmosphere.read more

What a great place. It is good for families, children, individuals or couples. This facility has it all. Even though it was chilly there were many many warm heaters above. It reminded me of being somewhere in Europe where families get together with children and talk and drink and share time together. Their beer selection is fantastic. My wife enjoyed the wine. To top it off they had live music which was very good. In addition, it is vegan/vegetarian friendly as well as having many meat dishes. What a great place to visit! My family came here after visiting the Museum of Art downtown and had heard the Cove was a good spot for the kids (something for the adults and something for them). The suggestion was spot on! The Cove really does show it understands parents- the outdoors tables are all circled around the playground and the area is mostly enclosed with a fence to stop a wayward 4 year old. The food wasn't bad either- hamburgers and fish tacos were good, but not quite great. The patty was well cooked, but the bun was slightly soggy. So why not 5 stars? Price. I guess if there are three things to look for in a kid-friendly restaurant (playground, food, price), then The Cove has clearly selected the first two to focus on. For 2 hamburgers, one order of fish tacos, and 2 sodas it was over $40! That's not to say it wasn't a great way to cap an afternoon out with the family, but not somewhere we will be going to frequently.read more

The Cove is my happy place. The food is amazing - my favorite burger is the Gouda burger. The egg-ceptional burger is also pretty exceptional when I’m especially hungry. They have a great selection of beer - both draft and bottled. The best part is the playground. It’s great for kids of all ages. My almost-two-year old has as much fun on the playground as the older kids. He can easily and safely climb, play, and slide on the structure. When we’ve had an particularly long day or my toddler gets restless, we usually head to The Cove. Kiddo gets to run around his heart’s content and expend his energy, and we parents get to sit next to the playground and enjoy a beer, good food and nice adult conversation while watching our kid have a blast. My kiddo loves the kids cheeseburger and fries. Plus they have free kids meal with purchase of an adult burger on Tuesdays! Note: the place gets really busy on nice Friday/Saturday evenings. The line to order food gets really long during these periods, but they do a surprisingly good job of keeping the line moving fairly quickly. Still expect to wait in line 15-20 minutes during these periods. Also parking can be a challenge during busy periods. They do have people to direct you to alternate parking spots when their lot is full, which is helpful.read more

The burgers are fantastic and the beer selection is large and varied. It has a large playground outside so it is very kid, family, and pet friendly. It's only down side is despite the kid friendly atmosphere they allow smoking in the same space as the kids. This would cause me to never bring my children here. Also, the parking is terrible. vegetarian delight! This place is a heaven for veggie folks. I have been back here for the lamb burger, awesome local ingredients, and friends (as there is no other spot in SA that offers this much veg variety). Draft beer selection was good. The food is exceptional, and the atmosphere is amazing. So nice to have a playground for the kids to occupy them. I love that they source their food locally and the meat is grass fed. The sweet potato fries with the spicy mayo are unbeatable, and the burger is fresh and cooked to perfection. 4 stars because the handful of times we've gone, the employees have always been a bit cold and as if they couldn't be bothered. For the price point, they should definitely be friendlier.read more

Burgers and fries (both thick cut and the sweet potato fries) were cooked to perfection and seasoned well. Nachos were also very flavorful and well made. Not a bad meal in the restaurant! Lots of beer choices and the sangria was awesome! Band was interesting/entertaining.
